Having successfully debuted in India with the Hector midsized sports utility vehicle (SUV), British automobile company Morris Garages (MG) is about to introduce its second product, the eZS. The fully electric car has already been launched in global markets and is expected to be officially unveiled in India later this year. The eZS electric vehicle (EV) was recently spotted being tested in India.

The India-specific eZS looks identical to its international version. The front grille has chrome embellishments and is flanked by projector headlights. MG has retained the two-tone alloy wheels form the global-specific eZS, with a sharp crease running across the profile. While the rear part of the Indian version has not been spotted, it is expected to resemble its overseas counterpart.

The MG eZS EV has a black dashboard. The central unit is dominated by a touschscreen infotainment system. Other features are likely to include cruise control, panoramic sunroof, a coloured multi-information display (MID) unit, and a powered driver’s seat. The car will have MG’s i-SMART connected-car technology.

The international version of the all-electric MG eZS has a 45.6kWh battery pack returning a mileage of 428km on a single charge, as claimed by the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The motor produces 150PS maximum power and 350Nm peak torque. The battery supports fast charging which can be recharged from empty to 80 percent in 30 minutes. The India-specific eZS is expected to retain the same battery pack and motor.

MG India has partnered with Delta Electronics to set up charging units at home and office spaces. MG wants to have the infrastructure ready before it rolls out the eZS. When launched, the MG eZS is expected to command an ex-showroom price of ₹23 lakh to ₹25 lakh. It will lock horns with Hyundai Kona, the only other all-electric passenger car available in India.
