  • Mar 19, 2019

The French automaker will be entering the Indian market officially on 3rd April. Groupe PSA, the parent company of Citroen will introduce the brand and announce the first model for India on the same day.

The first Citroen model expected to be launched in India is the C5 Aircross, which is a mid-size SUV. The car has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The engines and powertrain options along with the entire car will be manufactured in India at the company’s facility in Chennai. If launched, the C5 Aircross will challenge the mid-size SUVs of the country, including the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and upcoming SUV from the fleet of Morris Garages, the Hector.

Aside from the one mentioned above, the French automaker is likely to introduce the luxury DS 7 Crossback, which has also been spotted in India on multiple occasions. The DS 7 Crossback is a premium offering from Citroen and if launched, it will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 in the Indian market.

It has come to light that Citroen will launch a new car in the country every year from 2021. Aside from Citroen, Groupe PSA is a parent to more brands like Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall. However, we are unlikely to see any of these brands coming to India anytime soon.
