German auto giant Audi upped its game when the fifth-generation A4 made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Now, this latest generation A4 has been launched in Indonesia. The A4 sedan is launched in two variants; the Front-Wheel-Drive version is priced at Rs 49.23 lakh (990,000,000 IDR) while the Quattro (AWD) variant will cost Rs 59.7 lakh (1,200,000,000 IDR).
Both of these variants are powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine. However, this engine is tuned differently for FWD and Quattro variant. The engine produces 192PS of max power along with 320Nm of peak torque in the FWD setup, whereas, in the AWD configuration, the same engine pumps out 255PS of power along with 370Nm of torque. With this latest A4, the company has focused on refinement, piloted driving technology and efficiency gains. As per the claims, the fuel economy is improved by 21 per cent across the range and at the same time power is upped by 25 per cent.
The fifth-gen Audi A4 will be coming to India this year and apart from the 2.0-litre petrol engine, we will also get a 2.0-litre diesel unit that makes 190PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque.
The car utilises Audi's latest MLB Evo platform that aids both performance and fuel economy by shedding 120kg in weight. Despite losing the weight, the length of the car is increased by 21mm and 12mm is added to the wheelbase. Other significant changes include Audi Matrix LED headlights, 3D sound Bang and Olufsen music system, 12.3-inch visual cockpit, and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto integration. When launched in India, the new Audi A4 will take on the likes of BMW 3 series, Jaguar XE and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
