While the Hyundai Xcent may not be outstanding in most individual respects, it offers one of the most well-rounded packages in the sub-4m sedan segment. A good chunk of heat comes from the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, which is also due for an update. The DZire is the bestseller in the space with close to 20,000 dispatches every month and the Xcent is a distant second hovering around the 4,000 units mark.

The car is based on the Grand i10 hatchback, which recently got an update early this year. The diesel variant got the biggest change and saw the 1.1-litre engine being replaced with a 1.2-litre unit. That brought along higher power and torque figures, which went from 70PS and 160Nm to 75PS and 190Nm, respectively. The 1.2-litre petrol engine remained unchanged. We can expect the new Xcent to walk the same path and employ the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre petrol motor makes 83PS of power and 114Nm of torque. In addition to the 5-speed manual gearboxes, the petrol engine will also be available with the 4-speed torque converter automatic.

The new diesel engine is way more tractable and brings the car's performance up to speed with the Maruti Suzuki's 1.25-litre unit.

The new Xcent will also borrow the retouched grille with integrated LED DRLs that featured on the Grand i10. On the cosmetic front, we can also expect the Xcent to come with new alloys.

The feature list is also expected to include the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Although, a special edition of the Xcent comes with a 6.2-inch touchscreen display but it does not get the latest smartphone connectivity solutions straight from the Silicon Valley.
