Hyundai Venue Gets 50,000 Bookings In 60 Days

South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai, which entered the burgeoning and fiercely competitive Indian compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment with the Venue, has raked in 50,000 bookings for the car in just 60 days. The Venue, as claimed by Hyundai, attracted 33,000 bookings in the first month itself and 18,000 units of the car have already been delivered.

The Hyundai Venue bagged the ninth spot among top-selling passenger cars in June, which was also its first full month in sales. The Venue sold 8,763 units in the compact SUV segment in June, which was just 108 units short of leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Venue, incidentally, sold 429 more units than its older sibling Creta.

The Hyundai Venue is available in several powertrain options. The 1.2-litre petrol motor produces 83bhp and is mated to a 5-speed manual gear system. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine outputs 120bhp and is paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The 1.4-litre diesel unit produces 90bhp and is mated to a 6-speed manual gear system. The turbocharged petrol unit with DCT, according to Hyundai, has emerged as the most popular choice with more than 35 percent customers opting for it.

The top-specification Venue is one of the best cars in its class. It has LED daytime running lights (DRLs), keyless entry/go, automatic headlamps, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, alloy wheels, sunroof, and automatic climate control. The safety equipment comprises of dual airbags, rear parking sensors, antilock braking system (ABS), up to six airbags, reversing camera, and electronic stability control.

The Hyundai Venue commands an ex-showroom price between ₹6.5 lakh to ₹11.1 lakh. Besides the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Venue competes with the Honda WR-V, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, and Tata Nexon.
