Hyundai To Launch Grand i10 Nios Tomorrow

  • Aug 19, 2019

South Korean automobile major Hyundai is all set to officially launch the Grand i10 Nios crossover hatchback tomorrow. The car will be the successor to the current generation Grand i10 and will continue to be sold alongside the latter. The company recently rolled out the first Grand i10 Nios from its Sriperumbudur workshop, headed for dealerships.

Hyundai has already opened bookings for the Nios for a token amount of ₹11,000. The car will be available in three diesel and seven petrol engine options. Industry reports suggest that a diesel model with automated manual transmission (AMT) is also expected. Customers can choose from blue, silver, grey, teal, white, and red colour schemes. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor will output 114Nm peak torque and 81bhp. The 1.2-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, will produce 190Nm and 74bhp. Both engines will conform to the BS-VI emission norm which will be implemented from 1 April. Besides the optional AMT, both motors will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Hyundai claims that the Grand i10 Nios petrol-AMT and the petrol-manual return a mileage of 20.5kmpl and 20.7kmpl respectively. The diesel-AMT and the diesel-manual, according to the company, offer a mileage of 28.4kmpl and 26.2kmpl respectively.

The Grand i10 Nios will have Hyundai’s signature cascading grille in the front and LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The car’s design seem to be inspired from other Hyundai and Kia cars like the instrument cluster-integrated touchscreen infotainment system, and the new steering wheel. The projector fog lamps are housed in the bumper. The rear of the Grand i10 Nios has wraparound taillights, with triangular reflectors on the bumpers.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is expected to command an ex-showroom price between ₹5 lakh to ₹8 lakh. It will compete with the Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback, and the upcoming Renault Triber.
