Hyundai To Launch All-New Grand i10 On 20 August

  • Jul 09, 2019

Korean automobile major Hyundai is all set to introduce the all-new Grand i10 hatchback on 20 August. The car has already been spotted a number of times during its test runs and the company has now confirmed its release. The new Grand i10 is expected to have a redesigned exterior and several new interior features.

The 2019 Grand i10 will have a fluidic front grille design which is wider than the model’s current version. That aside, it will have sharper headlights, new alloy wheel design, a new taillight, and other upgrades.

Hyundai is unlikely to change the powertrain for the new Grand i10. The car will be hauled by the same 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines. The petrol motor produces 83PS maximum power and 113Nm peak torque. The diesel engine outputs 75PS maximum power and 190Nm peak torque. Both motors are mated to a 5-speed manual gear system while a 4-speed automatic transmission (AT) is also available as an option. Hyundai may replace the 4-speed AT unit with a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) system, which debuted in the new Santro, in both the petrol and diesel Grand i10.

The all-new Hyundai Grand i10 will have a new dashboard layout with a semi-digital instrument cluster. The car will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. It will be a similar unit to the one seen on the recently launched Venue. The infotainment system will have Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car technology.

Hyundai may continue to sell the current i10 alongside the Grand i10. But the former may be targeted at fleet operators.

The 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 will face competition from the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, and the Ford Figo in its segment. A new i10 is expected to command a premium over its current version which is priced between ₹4.98 lakh to ₹7.63 lakh.
