Hyundai Teases Sub-Compact SUV QXi

  • Mar 25, 2019

Hyundai has released a teaser video of its upcoming sub-compact SUV QXi, rumoured to be called the Styx. Although, the video reveals the car covered in camouflage, some of the details and components can be seen.

After watching the video, it seems that the QXi will come with the Kona-inspired front, with headlamps placed on the bumper and surrounded rectangular DRLs. A sunroof is expected to be offered with the top-spec variant. In the present market, only Honda WR-V, Ford EcoSport, and the Mahindra XUV300 come with a sunroof.

On the features front, we expect the production-spec QXi to come with a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, auto climate control and wireless charging functionality for smartphones that will be offered only with the top-spec variant.

In the engine department, the new Hyundai QXi will get the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a max power of 120 PS and a peak torque of 170 Nm. This engine can be seen fitted inside some of the Kia models and Hyundai’s global models. Additionally, expect it to come with 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engine options. While the 1.4-litre petrol can be seen on the Hyundai Verna, the 1.4-litre diesel can be spotted on the Creta and the Elite i20. We also expect the automaker to couple the engine with a DCT.

Expected to be launched in April-May 2019, the Hyundai QXi production-spec model is likely to start from Rs 8 lakh. Once launched, it will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, the Tata Nexon, the Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300.
