Hyundai QXi Likely To Be Called Venue

  • Mar 27, 2019

The production-spec version of the Hyundai QXi is finally going to be sold in India. Rumoured earlier as the Styx, the new sub-4m SUV will be called the Venue. Hyundai has trademarked this name in the country as well as in other regions of the world like Canada and Korea. The Hyundai QXi was first showcased three years ago as the Carlino concept at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.

The Hyundai QXi road-ready version will be showcased as a key offering at the upcoming New York International Auto Show next month. The gates for the same will go wide from April 17. We expect that the automaker will showcase the India-spec model on the same day as the global reveal.

Recently, the automaker had teased the Hyundai QXi wrapped inside a camouflage in a video. A few details can be inferred from the sight including, the low-positioned headlamps and the sunroof. While the front of the sub-4m SUV looks inspired by the Hyundai Kona, the top-spec variant will definitely be getting a sunroof. Currently, rivals like Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, and Ford EcoSport come with a sunroof.

More features that are likely to feature on the new QXi are wireless mobile charging, push start/stop, auto climate control, cruise control, and an advanced infotainment system with touchscreen.

Under the hood, it is likely to get multiple engine options, including 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol, 1.4-litre petrol that powers the Verna and a 1.4-litre diesel unit, which comes fitted inside the Creta and the Elite i20. The 1.0-litre petrol will come coupled with a dual clutch transmission (DCT) system.

The Hyundai QXi is expected to be launched in India in May this year. Once launched, it will challenge the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V. Expect the Hyundai QXi to be priced around Rs 8 lakh (Ex-showroom).
