Hyundai India officially launched the Grand i10 Nios crossover hatchback car at an event in Delhi today. The first Nios had rolled out from the company’s Sriperumbudur workshop last week.

The Grand i10 Nios, according to Hyundai, is a premium version of the current Grand i10. The car commands an entry-level price of ₹4.99 lakh with its Asta diesel version pegged at ₹7.99 lakh. The Nios will be available in five variants. The car, at its price point, undercuts segment competitors Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo. The entry-level Swift and Figo command an ex-showroom price of ₹5.14 lakh and ₹5.23 lakh respectively.

The Grand i10 Nios will be offered in both 1.2-litre, three-cylinder diesel and petrol motors. The petrol motor outputs 114Nm peak torque along with 83PS maximum power. The diesel unit, on the other hand, will produce 192Nm peak torque along with 75PS maximum power. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gear system as standard with automated manual transmission (AMT) being offered as an option.

The Grand i10 Nios, according to Hyundai, returns a fuel efficiency of 20.7kmpl and 26.2kmpl on the petrol and diesel models respectively. While the petrol motor conforms to the upcoming BS-VI emission norms, the diesel engine is of BS-IV standard. A BS-VI diesel engine may be introduced later.

The Grand i10 Nios is being offered in two dual-tone and six monochrome colour options. The cabin gets a beige-grey dual-tone layout. Features in the Nios include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an Arkamys-tuned sound system, wireless charging, voice command function, and a 5.3-inch multi-information display unit. The car has a 260-litre boot space.

Hyundai is offering a segment-first warranty plan on the Grand i10 Nios. Customers can choose between a 5-year/40,000km, 4-year/50,000km, and a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty.
