Ford To Launch Figo Facelift In March 2019

  • Feb 26, 2019

The blue oval American automaker is all set to launch another model from its portfolio before the end of the financial year. It is none other than the Figo facelift, which will be launched in March. However, the launch date has not been confirmed by the automaker yet. The Figo facelift gets cosmetic updates similar to what we have seen on the Figo Freestyle but what’s worth mentioning is that it also houses a new 1.2-lite dragon petrol engine.

Design-wise, the facelift version gets new 15-inch alloys, new headlamps, restyled bumpers, front grille, and reworked taillamps, all like the Freestyle. From the inside, the expectations are such that it would share some updates with the 2018 Aspire facelift. The all-black interior colour scheme is likely to be adopted. The centre console might also be updated with the new 6.5-inch SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options.

On the safety front, the updated Figo is expected to come with rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags as standard, while the top-of-the-line version is likely to be benefitted from a total of six airbags and a rear parking camera.

Under the hood, the Figo facelift will feature the new 1.2-litre dragon petrol engine that comes fitted in the Figo Freestyle. It is a 3-cylinder engine that churns out a max power of 96 PS and a peak torque of 120 Nm. This will make the new Figo 8 PS more powerful than the current version. The new engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Figo facelift will, however, come with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine as before that generates 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The automatic variant of the Figo is expected to get the new dragon 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a 6-speed torque converter, just like the EcoSport and the Aspire. The engine pumps out 11 PS more power and 14 Nm more torque than the older 1.5-litre engine, which produced 112 PS and 136 Nm., coupled with a DCT.

Once launched, the 2019 Figo will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10. The outgoing Figo retails in the price bracket of Rs 5.83 lakh and Rs 8.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). We expect the new Figo to start from a lower price range, with the base model to be priced at around Rs 5.1 lakh, whereas the top-spec variant to be at around Rs 8.5 lakh (both prices ex-showroom).
