Ford Mustang Unveiled; Launch later this year

Everyone who wanted to own the loud muscle car from the blue oval, rejoice! Ford has just unveiled the Mustang for its discerning customers in India that would be launched in the second quarter of 2016.

Earlier, we revealed exclusive photos of the new Mustang spotted at ARAI's testing centre, today the company has finally unveiled the muscle car with the launch slated for second quarter this year. While we know that the Ford Mustang sold in India will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 motor that generates a whopping 441PS of power and can achieve three digit speeds in a mere 4.5 seconds.

On the occasion, Nigel Harris, President, Ford India said, "Throughout its long history, the Ford Mustang has been a symbol of optimism and confidence for people all over the world. The new Mustang is a modern interpretation of the American icon, and we are thrilled to be giving our customers in India the opportunity to experience this piece of automotive history for the first time."

Other than the 'pony' car origin of a long hood and short rear deck, the 'stang' will get HID head lamps, LED tri-bar, tail lamps with sequential turn signals, and dual exhaust pipes as standard. On the inside, standard options would include bucket seats, leather trimmed steering wheel with steering mounted audio and phone controls and rake/reach steering

Other features include 18 -inch Magnet Gloss painted/machined aluminium wheels, Intelligent access with push-button start, adaptive cruise control, SYNC3, BLIS with cross traffic alert, Ford MyKey. "The new Ford Mustang is a one-of-a-kind vehicle and is going to appeal to Indian drivers who value the style, performance, and heritage that the Mustang name brings. With advanced new technology, an iconic design, and world-class power, it truly sets a new standard," added Harris. 

Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, the car maker has sold more than 9 million vehicles and has made thousands of appearances in film, television, music and video games. Once launched, the Mustang will lock horns with most supercars in the country example the upcoming Nissan GT-R and will be available as a completely-built-unit (CBU).
