The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was first launched in 2014 as a competitor to the popular Honda City. It has had a decent run in the market, but it is not the segment leader by a big margin. Maruti is set to go on an onslaught later in 2016, launching either all new products or giving their existing lineup of cars some updates. The company's flagship sedan is also set to be a part of this onslaught.

From very reliable sources, we have received information that the Ciaz will be receiving some significant changes to make it more appealing to customers.

First and foremost, the Ciaz facelift will be fitted with LED DRLs. The Ciaz is a subtle looking car; even though the RS kit adds a bit of flair to the design, the sedan needs more additions to help it stand out from the crowd. While details on how the Ciaz will look with DRLs is not available, we can assume that the car will borrow cues from the S-Cross crossover.

Our sources have also stated that the Ciaz will feature some more equipment, but have not specified what these new features will be. The Ciaz is well loaded in terms of equipment, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with integrated Apple CarPlay and navigation system, rear sunshade, leather seats, keyless entry & go, reversing camera with guidelines, etc. Maruti may add some features to make the Ciaz feel more premium, this could include new materials around the cabin to make it less plasticky.

Our sources tell us that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be launched in India before the start of the festive season with a tentative launch time in September 2016. The Ciaz is currently priced between Rs 7.68 lakh to Rs 9.94 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi and is available with petrol-manual, petrol-automatic and mild-hybrid diesel-manual variants. The powertrains will not be updated with the facelift.
