Datsun has officially pulled off the wraps from its next offering for the Indian market – the compact MUV Go+. The company has priced the Go+ aggressively at Rs. 3.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base 'D' variant, making it one of the most affordable MUVs on sale today in India. This is the second product launch by Datsun in India, the first one being the Go hatchback on which the Go+ is based on. The Go+ was launched in the presence of Vincent Cobee, Datsun's global head and Guillaume Sicard, Nissan India Operations President.

Essentially a longer version of Go hatchback, the Go+ MUV is 210mm longer than the Go and incorporates a third row of seats. The MUV retains the same front of the Go with the trademark hexagonal grille and swept back headlamps. Even though the Go+ measures under four meters, it still has a proper MUV-like silhouette from the side. The rear borrows the tail lights from the Go hatchback, but unlike the Go, the number plate housing is positioned on the tailgate rather than rear bumper.

On the inside, the Go+ retains the 'no-frills' feel of the Go and borrows the dashboard, steering wheel and the first two row of seats from the hatchback sibling. The dashboard, finished in grey, looks bare-basic with no cover for glove box. The center console is highlighted by the bare-bones audio system with a mobile docket station. The gear lever and handbrake lever too are positioned on the dashboard, allowing Datsun to adjoin the front two seats.

The center of attraction, though, is the third row of seats, which Datsun calls as a 5+2 seating layout. The space at the third row is at premium and best suited for kids, but when folded down, it gives you an enhanced boot capacity of 347 liters – 100 liters more than that of the Go hatchback.

The Go+ also borrows the healthy 1.2 liter three-cylinder petrol engine from the Go, which pumps out respectable figures of 68PS of power and 104Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission unit. Datsun claims an excellent ARAI fuel efficiency of around 20.6 kmpl.

The Go+ will be available in three trim levels, namely 'D', 'D1', 'A' and 'T'. None of the variants offer ABS, though the 'T' variant comes with a driver-side airbag as an optional safety feature. The MUV will be available with a standard warranty of 2 years/unlimited km and an extended warranty of 2 years. The prices for the different variants are as follows:-

Datsun Go+ D - Rs. 3.79 lakh

Datsun Go+ 'D1' - Rs. 3.81 lakh

Datsun Go+ A – Rs. 4.15 lakh

Datsun Go+ T – Rs. 4.61 lakh

Datsun Go+ D - Rs. 3.96 lakh

Datsun Go+ 'D1' - Rs. 3.99 lakh

Datsun Go+ A – Rs. 4.33 lakh

Datsun Go+ T – Rs. 4.81 lakh
