Datsun Introduces VDC Technology In GO, GO+

  • Jun 04, 2019

Japanese automobile manufacturer, Datsun has introduced the vehicle dynamics control (VDC) technology in its GO and GO+ series cars in India. The VDC is actually the electronic stability control system and the GO and GO+ are the first in its segment to get the feature. Besides the new safety feature, Datsun has also added a new colour option—Vivid Blue—to the GO hatchback.

The VDC technology monitors the steering wheel position, wheel speed and the lateral acceleration via sensors to determine whether the car is being over-steered or under-steered. It then carries out appropriate adjustments to correct the steering. VDC helps the driver to retain control of the vehicle, particularly during extreme maneuvers, by keeping the car headed in the driver’s intended direction.

Both the Datsun GO and GO+ are hauled by the same 12V dynamic overhead camshaft (DOHC), electronic fuel injected (EFI), 1.2-litre motor which produces 68PS maximum power and 104Nm of peak torque. The 3-cylinder engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system. Datsun, however, has clarified that the VDC technology will be available only in the T and T(O) models of the GO and GO+. The Nissan-owned company has hiked the price of both these cars by three percent.

The Datsun GO and GO+, besides the T and T(O) versions, are also available in the entry-level D, and the A and A(O) models. The company had introduced respective facelift versions of the GO and GO+ in 2018. The features include dual front airbags, antilock braking system (ABS) and brake assist. The upgraded GO and GO+ are already available for sales at Datsun dealerships all across India. The two new cars now have a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GO and GO+ rivals the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid, and the Hyundai Santro in its class.
