The desirability of the BMW brand skyrocketed when the latest 7-Series was launched at the 2016 Auto Expo. The sixth-generation 7-Series is a work of art that is laden with futuristic technologies, luxurious cabin and multiple engine options. If this was not enough, BMW has now added a new variant to the 7-Series lineup, the 750d xDrive. The highlight of this variant is the engine that is a 3.0-litre diesel unit utilising four turbochargers! Imagine fitting four turbochargers in the engine bay, tuning them precisely and then managing all that heat. Yes, truly a remarkable engineering feat.

This engine churns out 400PS of max power and a colossal 790Nm of peak torque, the latter arriving just at 2,000rpm. This makes it the most powerfull six-cylinder diesel engine in the world. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic ZF gearbox and the much-famed xDrive AWD setup. The xDrive AWD setup works beautifully in the X5M and the X6M (read our review here). However, in the 750d xDrive, this AWD system will help to put all that power...err, torque to the ground. The performance numbers are pretty impressive. The 0-100kmph mark is achieved in just 4.6 seconds, although the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.

Talking about the interiors, it gets similar creature comforts as the 730d and the 750i, which includes iDrive 5.0 infotainment system with gesture control, panoramic sunroof with six colour settings, smartphone inductive charger, adaptive laser lights, and many other futuristic features.

The latest BMW 750d xDrive will go on sale in European markets by July this year, however, it is expected to get launched in India by 2017. The newly developed 3.0-litre, quad-turbo diesel engine will also power the upcoming BMW X7, the flagship SUV from the German marque.
