The BMW 3 series has entered its 6th generation of development and with the kind of performance it shows on the sales chart, the world's best selling premium sedan demonstrates the kind of work Germans has put into the compact sedan.
We take a closer look at the new 3 series as the car will land in India next week. The new F30 is now longer with total 93mm of increment to the length of the car. The expressive face with the kidney grille has become more sportier than all the previous generations of the 3-series. The visual changes are so evident that anyone can now differentiate between the latest generation and the older 3 series. A new headlamp unit which now extends upto the kidney grille adds to that meaner look of the vehicle. The Germans has replaced the stale single central air intakes with the twin larger intakes positioned underneath the headlamps.
The most highlighted change under the hood is the new eight-speed automatic transmission which replaces the existing six-speed unit. The 2012 3 series will continue to be shipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.
The German giant is expected to bring the entry level sedan in different engine options to offer wider range of options to customers. The car will carry a price tag of around Rs. 25 lakhs.
