BMW Launches New Generation 3 Series In India

German luxury car manufacturer BMW has officially launched the 3 Series sedan in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹47.90 lakh. The car will be available in the 320d Sport Line, 320d Luxury Line, and 300i M Sport trims.

The 300i will be hauled by a four-cylinder 1,988cc petrol motor which produces 255bhp at 5,000rpm and 400Nm peak torque at 1,550-4,400rpm. The 320d, on the other hand, will be hauled by a four-cylinder 1,995cc diesel motor which outputs 188bhp at 4,000rpm and 400Nm peak torque at 1,750-2,500rpm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission (AT) system.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series is inspired from the new 8 Series which has larger kidney grilles and LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). The company is offering laser lights as optional. The wheels have self-levelling hub caps, like Rolls-Royce cars. The 2019 BMW 3 Series gets wraparound taillights like the new 5 Series that forges a wider appearance. The 320d has 17-inch alloy wheels, while the 330i runs on 18-inch light-alloy units.

The new BMW 3 Series has a newly designed and more spacious cabin. The instrument panel has a modern look with horizontal lines and high-quality electroplated strips. The car’s interior has a fully digital instrument cluster with a head-up display (HUD) unit, electric sunroof, memory seats, keyless entry, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new 3 Series will also be available with BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional system as an option. It comprises of a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument console.

The 2019 BMW 3 Series will be sold only in the rear-wheel drive version in India. The car, globally, is also sold in the all-wheel xDrive version.

The new BMW 3 Series will lock horns with the Audi A4, Volvo S60, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the Jaguar XE in its segment.
