  • Feb 16, 2016
The 13th Auto Expo served as a perfect platform for the manufacturers to showcase what future holds in the automobile ecosystem and some of them are more than promising. Here is a collective list of all the concepts shown at the Auto Expo that caught our eyes and are promising enough to make it to the production line in future.
These concepts served as a huge crowd-puller at the expo and beyond the glittering lights and the aura that they carries, we bring you what we can really expect from these crowd-magnets at the Auto Expo.

Chevrolet Essentia Concept:
The Essentia Concept can play a major role in the success of General Motors India. Based on the popular hatchback - Beat, the Essentia Concept will be the first sub-4 metre sedan from the GM that will enter in Indian market. The Essentia will enter highly competitive segment of sub 4-metre cars - a segment that has seen major launches from the manufacturers because of a rule that exempts sub 4-metre vehicles from tax. The concept looks very much proportionate unlike many other offerings in the current segment. The car is big enough to accommodate five adults and luggage comfortably and yet remain under 4-metre mark.
The concept car gets advanced features like Chevrolet MyLink2 - an infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The safety net includes dual airbags, ABS and reverse camera.Essentia Front Angle
The Chevrolet Essentia Concept will enter production sometime in next year and will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent.

Suzuki Ignis:
This one was definitely the most awaited concept of the 2016 Auto Expo. The Ignis will surely head for the production line soon and will be launched in India soon. The Ignis Concept does not carry much of a bling and almost everything that is there in the concept model will make it to the production version too. The Ignis will replace the aging Ritz. The car has a commanding design and has muscular appearance with long and flat bonnet.Suzuki Ignis Front Left Quarter
The Ignis looks very appealing and will attract a lot of buyers when it goes into production. Also, the Ignis will be the first petrol Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki, the tag is currently reserved only for diesel Ciaz and Ertiga. The petrol SHVS engine will make 90PS of maximum power along with 120 Nm of maximum torque. The electric engine will put in 3 PS of more power but will augment 50 Nm of more torque to the conventional engine!
The Ignis will enjoy lower excise benefits like the Ciaz and the Ertiga because of its hybrid technology which will give it an advantage over competitors when it comes to pricing of the vehicle.

Mahindra XUV 5OO Aero
Mahindra recently took over the famous Italian design firm Pininfarina. That piece of information has nothing to do with the XUV 500 Aero. It is designed in-house by Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai and has some bold lines to it.Mahindra XUV Aero Concept Right Side Profile
The XUV 500 Aero looks very much inspired by the BMW X6 and recently launched Mercedes-Benz GLE, both of which have received some mixed comments on their design. The coupe crossover is based on the XUV 500 SUV but has been modified heavily. The XUV Aero has three doors. One on the right side and two-doors on the other side in suicide door format for easy access. The car also carries vertical LED DRLs in front and similarly designed rear tail-lamps.
Inside, the car gets features like bucket seats, Mahindra’s new infotainment system to take care of the entertainment needs.
The car will be powered by 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces maximum power of 140 BHP. Mahindra will soon take a call on production prospect of the new concept after taking public feedback and reactions. For all we know, we may see the XUV 500 Aero on streets sooner than we think!
