Audi has constantly been investing in the sports and performance segments. Talking about the TT in particular, the small two-door sports car has often been regarded as one of the most iconic vehicles to come from the Audi stable. Currently in its third-generation, the TT coupe has the Roadster topless sibling as well.

The next Audi TT variant will be the RS, which will become the most performance oriented version of the same. Prototypes of the TT RS car have been spotted testing on various occasions and the company will be launching it in the international market next year with the sole aim of offering more performance than the current most powerful version, TT S.

Comparing the two models, the TT S coupe is driven by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged unit that can produce as much as 310.3PS of power. The TT RS on the other hand will put out a lot more power, thanks to either the 2.5-litre, five-cylinder, turbocharged engine that is found under the hood of the RS3 Sportback which churns out 367PS of power or a new generation of five-cylinder full aluminium block engines.

The new engine range will be naturally aspirated. These are expected to generate around 400PS of maximum power. Since it will be made from aluminium, the TT RS is expected to be lighter than the TT S. Anyhow, power in the TT RS will be transferred to all four wheels through a choice of a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Design wise, the test mule has been seen sporting a new bumper design both on the front and rear end. Other than that, the rear will feature an oval shaped exhaust setup as against their round counterparts. A much larger rear spoiler will be seen as well. Nothing is known as of now whether the TT RS will be launched in India or not.
