With 560 HP of power on tap, the stylish Audi RS 7 is all set to take away the title of the most powerful Audi on sale in India. The German luxury car maker has announced a press conference on January 6 for a new car launch and the company's official Facebook page has teased the RS 7 stating that it's coming soon.
Powered by a 4.0-litre TFSI TwinTubro V8 petrol motor, the mental version of the A7 sports sedan made its global debut at last year's Detroit Auto Show. The car pumps out 560 HP at 6,700 rpm and a healthy torque of 700 Nm at 1,750 rpm. o-100 kmph is dispatched in a scant 3.9 seconds while the top speed stands at an electronically restricted 250 kmph.
The RS 7's potent engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all the wheels via a rear biased (60:40) quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi has bestowed the super sedan with Cylinder On Demand (COD) technology which enhances the fuel efficiency. The car delivers an impressive 10.2 kmpl in European driving cycle. Expect the pricing to be northwards of Rs. 1 Crore.
Given the sales performace throughout 2013, Audi India seems to have become the first luxury brand to surpass 10,000 units in a calender year while Mercedes-Benz India looks to have finished a very close second.
While the RS 7 caters to a niche market, the Audi A3 Sedan which is expected to make its Indian debut at Auto Expo next month will spearhead the numbers game in 2014. The entry-level luxury Sedan whose pricing is touted to be in the ballpark of Rs. 25 lakh aims to introduce plenty of new customers to the brand.
