It's all smiles at Audi India after the successful launch of the new Audi Q3 SUV. The car maker registered 500 bookings in just 5 days of the cars debut. The precedence seems to have been set, then. The Audi Q3 offers a whole lot of features over its competition and Quattro being the major differentiating factor. That said, Audi is planning a much smaller SUV which will slot in between the upcoming Q1 and the Q3.
However, the future of the Q2 in India isn't clear. Having said that, the car is expected to debut in Europe by the year 2015. The Q2 will employ VW Group's new, highly versatile MQB platform and will be pitted against the Mini Countryman. Also, if rumours are to be believed, the next-generation Skoda Yeti could be based on the same platform. As we know, VW's MQB platform is to form the basis for future front-wheel drive products from the group and could be shared across other brands in the group.
As far as the Q2 is concerned, the new compact SUV's design is expected to based on the Quattro concept which was first showcased in 2010. That said, Audi will showcase a three-door version of the Q2 at the Paris motors show later this year while the first production model would make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
