Power. Beauty. Soul. As per Aston Martin these are the three signature ingredients that make their cars so unique. Working on the same lines then, with power being the topmost priority, Aston Martin has announced of company’s fastest ever accelerating convertible in form of a V12 Vantage S Roadster. It’s Aston Martin‘s quest to reach to a new level of exhilaration with the thrill of open-top driving that made them do this. Prices have not been disclosed as yet but it’s expected to cost around £150,000 (Rs. 1.55 crore, excluding duties in India)

Let’s start talking about the car’s power figures first because that in Aston’s own words is going to be an assault on the senses. True to its name, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Roadster is powered by a front mounted AM28 V12 engine. It produces 565PS of power and 620Nm of peak torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels by a bespoke seven-speed Sportshift III automated manual transmission. Aston Martin says that this gearbox has been derived from company’s GT race programme, so while it offers lightning quick shifts it also has a proven endurance record in races. All in all, this makes the V12 Vantage S Roaster get past 100 km/h from a naught in just 4.1 seconds (the hard-top V12 Vantage does it in 3.9 seconds!). The claimed top speed is 325kmph. To reverse the motion of things quickly in the car, you get carbon ceramic brake discs on all the four wheels as standard.

Aston Martin has a history of making good looking cars and the V12 Vantage S is no different in that respect. With its roof down it looks absolutely gorgeous, and dare we say more appealing than its hard-top sibling. The V12 Vantage S Roadster sits in a VH chassis underneath and it has an adaptive damping system which lets you choose from three driving modes- normal, sport and track. Unlike many of the other sports-cars these days, the V12 Vantage S Roadster sticks with a hydraulic power steering unit and not an electric power steering. The exhaust on the car is also made lightweight without taking away any of the visceral drama of this Aston Martin.

Aston Martin is known as a brand that focuses on driving indulgence. With its sensational acoustics and striking exteriors matched with an agile chassis and ferocious power of a V12 engine, the V12 Vantage S Roadster is Aston Martin’s way to cement that belief.
