Aston Martin showcases special edition models in New York

Aston Martin has taken the opportunity to showcase two special edition models at the ongoing 84th New York International Auto Show by unveiling the V8 Vantage GT and the DB9 Carbon Edition.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is being made available in coupe and roadster form. Firepower comes from a front mid-mounted 4.7 litre V8 engine developing 435PS of power @ 7,300 rpm that gives the car a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 304 km/h. Both versions of the performance car can be specified with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed automated manual gearbox with a short final drive ratio. The all alloy V8 engine is fitted with a sports exhaust system that has been honed over numerous competitive GT races that Aston takes part in. Stopping power is also provided by a race derived braking system.

To compliment the motorsport oriented nature of the car, Aston Martin has fitted the V8 Vantage GT with carefully calibrated sports suspension and a quick ratio steering rack for spirited driving.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT has been styled to compliment the company’s motorsport heritage by drawing inspiration from the Vantage GT4 race car. The car can be specified with colour choices that include Alloro Green, Jet Black, Skyfall Silver, Mariana Blue and Speedway White which can be further customized with contrasting graphics adorning grille lipstick, mirror caps, A-pillar/cant rail (Coupe only) and rear diffuser blade. There is also a dark theme exterior detail package which includes graphite painted diamond shape alloy wheels, black headlamp bezels, clear lens tail lamps with black surrounds, side window surrounds and textured tail pipe finishers.

Inside, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT gets machined carbon fibre sill plaques, black magnesium paddle shifters (automatic model) or carbon fibre gearshift surrounds (manual model), satin chrome switchgear surrounds, leather or alcantara steering with contrast stitching, while the sports seats and door pads get alcantara inserts. Prices for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT start at $ 99,900 (Rs. 60 lakh).

The second limited edition model, the Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Edition has been made available in two shades, namely, Carbon Black or Carbon White. While the option of personalizing the shade from Aston’s colour palette is also open for buyers.

Exterior visual enhancements for the Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Edition consist of carbon fibre side strakes, rear lamp infills and black meshes, window surrounds , 10 spoke diamond turned alloy wheels that can be painted silver or satin black with the brake calipers having a choice red, yellow, grey or black shades. Optional styling components include carbon fibre front splitter, rear diffuser and mirror cap/arm features.

The interior of the car gets a black theme with options of red, yellow, grey or black available for trim materials alongside carbon fibre details, bespoke sill plaques with the carbon logo and new black hardware.

The Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Edition like the standard DB9 is powered by the company’s AM111 6.0 litre V12 engine developing 537PS of power and 618Nm of torque giving the car a top speed of 292 km/h.

Prices for the Aston Martin DB9 Carbon Edition start at $ 199,995 (Rs. 1.20 crore).
