Aston Martin makes some of the most interesting cars. No wonder it has been a personal favourite of James Bond for so long. After the recently launched DB11, many would have thought that the British marquee would sit back and relax for a bit. On the contrary, it just made Aston Martin enthusiasts happier by introducing the manual transmission version of the V12 Vantage S. The company believes that a true purist will always be a stickler for a manual transmission in a sportscar and hence took the decision to introduce the 7-speed manual transmission unit.

The gear shifter features a dog-leg first gear position. This means that the driver has to push the shifter down rather than up, in order to engage the first year. The unit also gets AMSHIFT, a proprietary Aston Martin system, that uses the clutch, gear position and the propshaft sensors to mimic the age old heel-toe downshifting technique. The AMSHIFT is selectable and can be used in all of the driving modes, but is the most effective in the Sport mode, of course. The throttle response is sharper and the pop and crackles on the overrun are nothing less than music to the ears. The V12 Vantage S with the manual transmission is priced the same as the one with the Sportshift III automatic transmission. The V12 Vantage S does the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.9 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 330kmph.

The other small changes in the 2017 model year is the optional sport pack which offers a lot of customisation options for body colours, interiors, upholstery etc. Along with this, all Aston Martin 2017 models will now come fitted with the new AMi III infotainment system which includes a new and updated satellite navigation system over the last one, and Apple CarPlay.
