2020 Skoda Superb Spied Testing In India

  • Nov 27, 2019

The testing mule of the upcoming Superb facelift has been spotted on the streets in India for the first time. From the images, it appeared the company has bestowed it with some exterior upgrades. Also, a BS6 emission testing kit was spotted.

Though the outside changes are limited, we are expecting the top-spec model to feature new LED Matrix headlamps, LED fog lamps and new LED taillights. Except for new alloys, the side profile is likely to be unchanged. The rear section would get ‘Skoda’ lettering in the centre ditching the Winged Arrow badge.

The interiors weren’t spotted, but we are expecting it to feature a bigger and better 9.2-inch infotainment system, new connected features, a 360-degree surround camera, a sunroof, a three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and park assist.

Under the hood, 2020 Superb is expected to come with BS6 compliant 2.0-litre TDI and TSI engines. The transmission systems are expected to be carried over from the previous iterations, would come with a 6-speed manual and DSG dual-clutch automatic.

In select markets, Skoda offers Superb PHEV, which is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor. The performance is rated at 218 PS of power and 400 Nm of peak torque. As far as transmission is concerned, 6-speed DSG is on offer. On pure electric mode, the Superb hybrid can travel up to 55 km.

The 2020 Skoda Superb is expected to hit the showrooms by mid-2020. Once launched, it will go up against the likes of the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and the Volkswagen Passat. The outgoing version of the Superb is priced from Rs 26 lakh to Rs 31 lakh (ex-showroom India). Expect the new facelifted Superb to feature a price tag higher than this owing to the new features and BS6 compliant engine options.
