2020 Honda CR-V Facelift Version Spotted

  • Jul 10, 2019

Japanese automobile major Honda launched the latest model of the CR-V sports utility vehicle (SUV) in India last year and it now seems that the company is already preparing to introduce a facelift version of the car in the international market. Three new Honda CR-Vs were recently spotted being tested in the US, albeit under heavy camouflage. The car is expected to be launched in 2020.

The changes in the new Honda CR-V don’t seem to be too exhaustive. Although camouflaged, the car seemed to have a new grille design with a wider central bar. The bumper is likely to house the round fog lamps with a bit more protruding look. The back of the vehicle also has a few changes. The tip of the exhaust pipe seems exposed with square-type ornamentation. That aside, the bumper itself has a new look. The camouflage expectedly didn’t offer a peep into the new CR-V’s cabin. Similar cosmetic changes, however, are likely to be incorporated in the vehicle’s interior.

The Honda CR-V is available in India in both diesel and petrol engine options. The 1,597cc dynamic overhead camshaft (DOHC) motor produces 120PS maximum power at 4,000rpm and 300Nm peak torque at 2,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission system. The 1,997cc petrol motor, on the other hand, produces 154PS maximum power at 6,500rpm and 189Nm peak torque at 4,300rpm. The single overhead camshaft (SOHC) petrol engine is mated to a 6-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) system. The 2020 Honda CR-V facelift version is expected to retain the same powertrain options. However, Honda may introduce a plug-in hybrid CR-V for the Indian market, since it already sells the model in Europe. The hybrid CR-V is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired to a 1kWh motor which produces 184PS maximum power.

The Honda CR-V currently commands an ex-showroom price of ₹28.33 lakh in the Indian market.
