Renault has added new features to the 2019 Captur to bring it in line with the latest safety regulations. Along with this, the automaker has rearranged Captur’s variant lineup. The Captur is now available in just two variants, the base RXE, and the top-spec Platine. The Platine is now available with a petrol engine.

The standard features now on offer with Captur are rear parking sensors, speed alert system and driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder. The safety update adds features like ABS with EBD, brake assist, dual front airbags, auto door lock, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear wiper with washer and rear defogger to its spec-sheet column as standard offerings. According to the automaker, the updated Captur complies with lateral, pedestrian and frontal safety crash norms.

Additionally, the Captur’s MediaNAV system with a 7-inch touchscreen has been updated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and voice recognition. The car also features an Eco Guide system to monitor the driving pattern that provides insights and guidelines to the driver for better driving and fuel efficiency.

The top-spec Platine features rear parking camera with guidelines, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, auto LED headlamps, LED DRLs, speed limiter, and 17-inch alloys. The highlighting feature is the welcome function of the new auto-folding ORVMs that come synced with the smart key’s walk-away lock function.

Mechanically, the Renault Captur remains unchanged. It continues to draw power from the 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system. The 1.5-litre diesel, on the other hand, churns out 110PS of power and 240Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Captur does not come with an automatic transmission as yet.

The Captur RXE petrol is now available at a price of Rs 9.5 lakh which makes it Rs 50,000 less expensive than before. The top-spec Platine diesel can be purchased at Rs 13.25 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). In the Indian market, the Captur rivals against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, the Nissan Kicks, and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Following is the complete price list.
