  • May 02, 2019

BMW X7, the flagship sports utility vehicle from the leading German automobile manufacturer, has been spotted in Pune ahead of its launch in India. BMW had listed the car on its official website in January. The undisguised X7 was probably being taken to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for homologation.

While the company has confirmed that the X7 SUV will be assembled at its Chennai workshop, the first few units of the car is likely to be brought to India as completely built up (CBU) units to expedite the launch.

The X7 spotted at Pune is the entry-level xDrive 40i model. The Munich headquartered company, however, has listed only the top-end M50d model on its website. The BMW X7 xDrive 40i is hauled by a 3.0-litre petrol motor which produces 340PS maximum power and 450Nm peak torque. The M50d model, on the other hand, is hauled by a 3.0-litre diesel motor that outputs 400PS maximum power and 450Nm peak torque. The car is also available globally in the xDrive50i model which is hauled by a 4.4-litre petrol motor, producing 462PS maximum power and 650Nm peak torque. All three engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission system. BMW has not yet disclosed the X7 lineup it has planned for India.

The standard list of interior features of the BMW X7 includes a fully digital instrument console, three-piece glass sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, four-zone climate control, and all-seat recliner option. The car comes in two seating configurations i.e. the 7-seat standard version or the optional 6-seat variant. The X7 has a flexible boot space that can hold 326-2,120 litres depending upon requirements.

High-beam LED headlamps dominate the car’s front while the vehicle rolls on 22-inch alloy wheels. The BMW X7, when launched in India, is expected to command a price of INR1.5 crore.
