Electric car fans across India experienced a new high when the CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, unveiled the Model 3 on March 31. Musk also confirmed on Twitter that the Model 3 will be coming to India. What Musk emphasised on was that Tesla will be making its grand entrance in India before the Model 3 hits production. That puts the date somewhere around the fourth quarter of 2017. If the Model 3 won't be in production at the time, then obviously, the lineup will include the flagship Model S luxury sedan. That car is sure to give the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series a run for their money.

The Model S that'll be coming to India won't be the one with a black nose, though. The black front that acted as a faux grill is history. As consumers have started to accept electric cars and understand that they don't need to suck air for combustion, there's no need to make them look like they have an engine under the hood. Just like the Model X and Model 3, the S will be getting a more aerodynamic front.

In terms of new features, the facelifted Model S will be getting adaptive LED headlights that turn with the steering. The headlamps will also be able to switch to high beams if there aren't any vehicles approaching. If there are other vehicles on the road, they'll turn to low beams to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.

High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance (HEPA) filter in the new Model S will ensure 99.97% pure air inside the cabin. As with Insane and Ludicrous modes, Tesla even came up with a fancy name for the air filtration system and calls it the 'bioweapon defense mode'.

Features like Autopilot will be standard as on the Model 3 and will be smarter than before. It'll be able to not only maintain its lane but will also be aware of what other cars around it are up to. The variants' list will continue to be the same as the current-gen Model S and include 70, 70D, 90D and P90D. The rumoured P100D is also expected to join the party and sit at the top of the Model S foodchain.
