A copy of Hyundai's Elantra undergoing its testing ritual has been spotted not far from the factory and captured by Indian Autos Blog. The car is expected to be launched in India this year. In the American market, where it's on sale already, it comes powered by a 2.o-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that promises 150 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. Despite the camouflage, the silhouette and tail lamp design gave away what car it was. The beautiful-looking-alloys clearly scream 'Hyundai' as the brand is known for fitting some of the best-looking alloys on its cars straight from the factory.

The Elantra sold in the US measures 4570mm long, 1800mm wide and 1435mm tall. The ground clearance of the car is 135mm; which will, obviously, be raised for India, but the 2700mm long wheelbase is likely to remain untouched. The kerb weight of the US-spec Elantra varies from 1,255 kg for the base variant to 1,350 kg for the fully-loaded Limited trim.

The Elantras sold in South Korea get the 1.6-litre diesel engine with variable geometry turbo churning out 136 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. There's also the 1.6-litre direct-injected petrol engine making 132 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. This naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine and VGT-equipped oil burner are more likely to make it to the Indian showrooms compared to the 2.0-litre petrol, which is on sale in the US.
