1. Ford Mustang
Lot of spy shots, speculations and rumours later, American car maker, as a pre-cursor to the 2016 Auto Expo, unveiled the Ford Mustang. This mental piece of legacy will be available to customers by September this year with an expected price tag upward of Rs 65 lakhs. Powered by a 5.0 litre, V8 petrol engine, the Mustang generates a whopping 441PS of power that can take you from standstill to a ton in a meagre 4.5 seconds. The GT350R, that has a over a mental 500 plus PS figure does just over seven minutes at the Nurburgring with a 5.2 litre V8, so consider the India bound model to be no slouch. An 'American Muscle' that not just has the power, but the finesse as well!

2. Nissan GT-R
If anyone thought we would not be including the 'Godzilla' here, we would not have justified this list. Powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor, the Nissan GT-R pumps out 562PS of power and 632Nm of torque that is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. While the next statement might sound contradictory, each engine of the sports car is hand-built by one master craftsmen with the name engraved on the engine cover. So power figures of each car are slightly different from the other. And if you were thinking with the performance figures, this will be a slouch, think again. It does a less than three second time from standstill to a 100 kmph. Another noteworthy mention is that the GT-R knows when it reaches a race track and turns the speed limiter off. But this was a car not just meant to give straight line high speeds, but to attack corners as hard as possible. So much so, it has a special knurling to keep the tyres from flying off. So, here is one of the most awaited sports cars coming very soon to Indian shores.

3. Volkswagen Polo GTI
There were more than eager eyes waiting for the entry of the Volkswagen Polo GTI – the ultimate hot hatchback. There were speculations before the launch of the GT TSI, but to some's disappointment, the latter had a 1.2 litre motor mated to a DSG. What was really needed then is going to be fulfilled soon. Behold the Volkswagen Polo GTI will reach Indian shores via the CBU route and will be priced upward of Rs 20 lakhs. Power is derived from the acclaimed 1.8 litre TSI motor that is capable of generating 192PS of power between 4,200 – 6,200 rpm and a massive (for a three-door hatchback) 320Nm of torque between 1,450 – 4,200 rpm. Considering the figures on paper, this will be one three-door to look out for. Are we concerned about fuel efficiency in this section? Not really!

4. Audi R8
Another noteworthy mention goes to a german brand that has been supplying us with oodles of ear-to-ear grins and loads of products right from affordable cabriolets to high-end security loaded sedans – Audi. At the 2016 Auto Expo, the car maker from Ingoldstat announced its all-new sports car, the Rs. 2.47 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi, Audi R8 with the first delivery being taken by Virat Kohli. Powered by a 5.2-litre V10 motor, the R8 is capable of pumping out a massive 618PS of power and 560Nm of torque. This power is translated to kinetics on all wheels courtesy of a 7-Speed Dual Clutch S-tronic automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

5. Baleno RS
While we have been speaking of powerful three-door hatchbacks and legendary sports cars making their way to India, we could really not resist putting a more affordable option in this section as well. And to take the cake in this niche segment, Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Baleno RS. The car will be equipped with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine that is expected to be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Considering the Baleno is a very light car, the sub 10 second dash would be impressive for its class. And unlike the company's other RS monikers, this will not just be a sticker job.
