Renault’s plan to tap into the growing market by bringing in Lodgy which already sells in the international market under Dacia brand is a crucial move and the new launch may just recreate the success that was seen by the Duster when it was launched in India. The Duster still remains as one of the most preferred vehicles in the segment even though other Renault products are not getting any similar attention from the market.

Unlike many Renault-Nissan rebadged products in the Indian market, the Lodgy is nowhere related to the Nissan Evalia. Infact, the Lodgy is based on M0 platform, which is derived from the platform of Duster. Being based on the SUV platform, the Lodgy drives very well and has great handling too.

The interiors are similar to the new Duster and Renault has made sure that they use top-notch plastic to give a premium feeling to the customers.Visually, the car looks very big and chrome fillings on the car make it pleasing to the eyes. Dimension wise - the Lodgy is 4498 mm long, and 1751 mm wide, the highlight comes in form of wheelbase, the Lodgy offers best-in-class wheelbase of 2810 mm while the Innova stands at 2750 mm only.Renault Lodgy

Renault offers Lodgy in either 7 or 8 seating option. The seats are in three-rows and in 7 seats option, the middle row gets captain seats while the 8 seats option gets a bench in the middle row. The last row of Lodgy is very unique and can be removed to create a lot of space for luggage. Renault claims that Lodgy offers best-in-class space.[gallery columns="4" ids="16248,16247,16246,16245"]

Powering the Lodgy will be only a diesel engine and that is a K9K engine that also features in the Duster. Just like the Duster, the Lodgy will also offer the 1.5-litre engine in two tunings - 85 PS and 110 PS. The 110 PS engine comes mated with 6-speed manual transmission, while the 85 PS version comes with a 5-speed gearbox. As per ARAI, the Lodgy returns 21.04 km/l for 85 PS version and 19.98 km/l for the 110 PS version.

Renault has also added features such as navigation, cruise-control, power-windows, air-bags, ABS and Brake Assist on the new Lodgy. Further, Renault claims that the running/maintenance costs of the Lodgy are lowest among its competitors over a 5 years/100,000 kilometers cycle.
