While news has surfaced about the launch of the automatic version of the Mahindra XUV500 in Algeria, we are yet not sure when the same model will come to India as well. For the uninitiated, Mahindra had confirmed plans to roll out an automatic version of the XUV in India in the past but have gone ahead and done the same in an export market first. This automatic XUV comes with a 6-speed gearbox that might be the same as seen on the Mahindra Scorpio which means it might have been sourced from Bosch's Australian facility. We say this as Mahindra has been known to develop a new 6-speed automatic with Aisin Seiki of Japan but that might be taking some more time.

The XUV500 that goes on sale in Algeria comes with both a manual and an automatic gearbox. Mechanically, the engine remains the same and puts out 140Bhp of power. The model will be sold in three trim levels of W6, W8 and W8 AWD. The newly introduced low cost version (W4) that was launched in India a while back has not been introduced in Algeria.

Apart from the XUV Automatic, Mahindra has also launched the Quanto in Algeria. Interestingly, it comes with a 2.2-litre motor that puts out 120 Bhp - same as the Xylo H9 that is sold in India. Further, there is only one version to choose from, the top of the line fully loaded C8 model. The Quanto that will be sold in Algeria also sports a 5-seat configuration.
