Nissan Micra has been a successful launch for Nissan and brought several exciting features to the segment. However, in the longer period it has been in the market it hasn’t been much of a sales chart topper. Renault has recently launched the Renault Pulse which shares the same platform and several components of the Micra in the premium hatchback segment. Looks and design:

Nissan Micra brings stylish exteriors with its buy eyed headlamps and twin grille. It has an elegant design and looks quite curvy yet sporty from few angles. It lacks alloy wheels buy looks good even without them. The Micra hatchback is well built and has very good finish and paint quality and lends some of its qualities to the other hatchback in this comparison.

Renault Pulse is based on the Nissan Micro platform and shares quite a few similarities with the Micra. From the side profile the Pulse looks the same as the Micra apart from the headlamps that distinguish them apart. Renault Pulse bears a sportier front end design and even the rear seems to be been redesigned. The build quality, fit and finish on the Pulse is very good.

Nissan Micra has comfortable ride quality owing to well tuned suspension. It isn’t the most agile amongst hatchbacks but offers a stable ride. It manages to cushion out the bumps and undulations and provide a comfortable driving experience. The steering is light weight and the brakes are adequate. It also comes with ABS in select variants of the Micra.

Renault Pulse in comparison brings decent ride quality. However the seats are slightly firmer but the suspension is tuned for comfort. The handling isn’t very agile and confidence inspiring and this partly due to poor braking performance and lack of ABS even in the higher priced variants of the Renault Pulse. The steering gives adequate feedback and remains light weighted but it isn’t built for the enthusiast.
