Maruti Suzuki SX4 is good looking sedan which is radically styled and has been a highly acclaimed design when it was launched in 2007. It has huge headlamps which combined with the mesh grille sporting a big Suzuki logo in chrome and integrated fog lamps on body colored bumpers give the SX4 a very aggressive styling. It has well styled rear which looks makes the car look larger than it is from the rear but remains very proportionate in terms of design when compared to the front of the car. Volkswagen Vento is a very good looking premium sedan in the mid size segment and brings contemporary European looks and design to the market. Vento has a slightly understated design with neutral lines and structure that seems to please everyone. The front resembles the hot hatch Polo but Vento sports different air dam and fog lamps. Maruti Suzuki SX4 has excellent interior features and comes with very comfortable seats that provide very good support to your back and are set high which will make it easier for older people to get in and out of the car. It has plenty of leg and head room and space for 5 people to sit. SX4 also brings excellent goodies such as the Kenwood stereo music system with CD player, MP3 and FM radio support. It has a functional speedometer, tachometer and MID which also displays outside temperature and these look great at night and are highly visible during the day. SX4 has acceptable fit and finish inside and the seat upholstery is shod in luxurious leather and feels great. SX4 sedan has features such as climate control rear defogger, adjustable shoulder anchor, power-steering and power windows. It has plenty of storage areas and comes with boot space of 504 liters for all your luggage carrying needs.

Volkswagen Vento has a dual tone dashboard with a mix of beige and brownish grey with some chrome accents thrown in. It has comfortable seats which will easily seat 5 people inside and ensure there is plenty of room for everyone. Maruti Suzuki SX4 offers an excellent 1.6 liter engine which is highly refined and offers a low vibration and noise levels making it a very good combination on the SX4. It is a very good performer as well developing 102 BHP at 5500 RPM and 145 NM of torque at 4100 RPM from its 1.6 liter four cylinder powerhouse which is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and does an excellent job at being an easy to drive car with an engine that has excellent drivability. This petrol engine variant on the SX4 has been rated by ARAI to deliver a maximum fuel efficiency of 15.5 kmpl and that makes it easy on the pocket while using the car on a daily basis.

Volkswagen Vento Petrol packs a solid punch thanks to its powerful motor and does well in this competitive segment. It comes with a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder petrol engine which produces 104 BHP at 5250 RPM and a maximum torque of 153 NM at 3800 RPM. These power and torque figures make it an absolute joy to drive in the city and a screamer down the highway. This powerful engine is mated to a 5 speed gear box which has perfect gear ratios and gives excellent drivability to this great sedan and it is also available in a 6 speed triptronic gearbox variant. Maruti Suzuki SX4 is a fantastic handing car and a favorite amongst enthusiasts and regular drivers because of the ease of driving this wonderful car which offers a well weighted steering which is light to operate at low and high speeds. The SX4 sedan has high ground clearance but doesn’t have a bumpy ride as it manages to glide over bad roads and yet offer the maximum comfort possible. Maruti has done a fantastic job tuning its suspension so that there is very little body roll and it inspires confidence when driving occasionally in a spirited manner. It comes with ABS + EBD which help you slow down the car instantly without losing tyre grip and air bags are present to further enhance passenger safety in the car.

Volkswagen Vento is a very good performer on our Indian roads and offers very good ride quality which is slightly on the stiffer side but that gives the Vento the stability not often seen in similar cars. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable and the ride is very cushioned while go over bad roads. It has a finely tuned suspension that eats up all the bad roads and potholes and ensures a comfortable drive always. The NVH levels on the Vento are well controlled. It’s a fun to drive car as it offers very good feedback from its electronic power steering. It brings ABS + EBD to help slow it down from the really fast speeds that it can easily achieve.

Maruti has priced the SX4 petrol variant at price (ex-showroom Delhi) starting from 7 lakhs for the entry level SX4 VXi and 8.09 lakhs for the top variant SX4 ZXI. The automatic transmission version is priced at 8.41 lakhs for the SX4 ZXi AT.


Volkswagen Vento is one of the hottest selling sedans in the country and brings three excellent levels of trim for all budget ranges. VW is relatively new to India and is quickly ramping up its dealer network and hence it’s something to look forward to while purchasing a German car of excellent quality. Maruti SX4 is one of the hottest selling mid size sedans in the country and it competes with one of the top selling sedans from Volkswagen, one of the largest car makers in the modern world. Vento brings luxurious interiors and build quality that is unmatched by its current rivals. It offers very good performance from its engine and excellent ride quality. However VW has few dealerships as compared to endless dealer network of Maruti that stretches across the country. Both the cars reflect the modern times and bring all the latest features and performance one expects from them.
