Here is what our experts feel about Street Triple
Triumph Street Triple is the younger sibling to the Speed Triple but packs a lot of punch despite the smaller size and engine capacity. India gets the standard version with ABS as standard equipment. Triumph has given it muscular styling and great performance. It combines the latest triple cylinder technology into a compact package for the street. The naked motorcycle has been considered one amongst the best in the mid-size segment world over. Finally available in the country it is a great option for speed enthusiasts looking for a mid-size motorcycle.
The engine is a 675cc, liquid cooled, 12 valve, DOHC three cylinder engine that makes 106 PS of power at 11850 rpm and 68 Nm of torque. The engine screams as you approach the rev limiter and ensures you fall in love with the sound of the motorcycle. The powerful motor has been paired to a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox and ensures excellent power delivery across the revs. It has great low end torque for riding on the streets and has outright performance for the long straight stretches on the highways. This is one of those rare motorcycles that packs a lot of punch with every twist of the wrist. The engine vibes are well controlled and it doesn’t get annoying at anytime.
The motorcycle has been finely honed over the years and looks stunning in its streetfighter styling. It has a focused design which is contemporary and only complemented by its class leading performance. The engine is smoother, rev happy and sounds great. The chassis is very well sorted out to provide excellent handling dynamics. The weight is forward biased but Triumph has reduced the weight by 6 kgs in its most recent update of the Street Triple. It provides a confidence inspiring ride and excellent feedback to the rider to tackle every corner on your favorite twisty section of the road.
The light wheels enable the rider to quickly turn the motorcycle. It helps in reducing the gyroscopic forces and improves steering response. The turning radius of the motorcycle is also very small which makes it easy to maneuver it. The handling dynamics are spot on and the bike is very agile. You can throw it in and out of corners easily and changing directions is not an issue. The tank is beautifully sculpted and the recesses are perfect for aligning your knee when you are trying to get your knee down.
The riding position is comfortable and easy on your back. It is forward biased but not overly sporty to cause any discomfort to the rider. The adjustable suspension ensures flexibility. It also provides great stability at high speeds over undulating surfaces. The disc brakes are powerful and the ABS works very well to keep the wheel from lock up. The overall build quality of the motorcycle is very good. Triumph India is selling the Street Triple ABS version at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.50 Lakhs which is good value for this powerful naked motorcycle.
