V Strom 1000 Expert Review

Here is what our experts feel about V Strom 1000

Suzuki V-Storm is a great adventure touring motorcycle in various global markets. It is now officially available on sale in India and offers enthusiasts a great option as a motorcycle that is a great option for touring long distances across the country and for some mild off-roading as well. It has a versatile character that will suit most riders hopping on to the bike from other types of motorcycles. Built for mostly on-road riding than off-road trips the V-Storm is a perfect choice for travelers wishing to do rides one-up or two-up.

Powered by a 2-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC, 90 degree V-Twin engine with a displacement of 1037cc it produces 100 Bhp of power and 101 Nm of torque. The engine has been mated to a 6 speed constant mesh transmission which ensures excellent rideability in varying road conditions. The motorcycle has loads of power and is rev happy. The throttle response is good however off idle it tends to be somewhat choppy. The power tends to come on too abruptly but it remains easy to control. It has a hydraulic clutch which remains light in weight and it’s a boon when riding in traffic. The engine delivers most of its power in the 4,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm mark but will rev easily upto 9,000 rpm.

Suzuki has managed to get a good riding position on the motorcycle. The riding position ensures that one feels at ease on this bike. It feels natural to ride this bike and one is always at comfort. The ergonomics ensure all the controls are within reach of the rider. The ride and handling of the motorcycles makes it a fun to ride bike especially in the corners. While the front end isn’t too sharp, the V-Storm goes smooth through curves without making a fuss and generally inspiring confidence in its handling capabilities even to the new riders who are riding it for the first time.

V-Storm comes with ABS and Traction Control as standard. There is however no provision to switch off the ABS on the bike. The 19 inch front wheel comes with dual disc brakes while at the rear there is a single disc on the 150 section tyre on the 17 inch alloy wheel. The alloy wheels are from Enkei. The stopping power is excellent however the motorcycle exhibits a lot of initial bite from its front brakes slowing down the machine very quickly from high speeds. The traction control can be switch off and comes in 2 levels to suit rider preferences. It also brings a 12V socket to power your electronic devices as well.

Suzuki V-Storm in its latest avatar brings excellent build quality and comes with an excellent character for long distance touring. It will appeal to a wide range of customers looking for a comfortable yet agile motorcycle on which cross country tours can be done. The latest iteration of the motorcycle is the only version available to the customers in the country and it certainly is a great option if your focus isn’t off-road riding. However at its current ex-showroom New Delhi price of Rs. 14.95 Lakhs it does feel a little pricey given the fact that the Triumph 800XC is here and available cheaper by 3 Lakhs rupees.
