Started in 1937, the project for developing a car finished two-years later with then-innovative liquid cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder engine generating 13 BHP from 800cc displacement.
Suzuki started manufacturing motorcycles in 1952 with the first few models being bicycles with motors clamped to them. The Japanese giant focused only on two-stroke engines in the 1970s, when they hired Ernt Degner, Grand Prix racer, for his expertise in developing the two-stroke engines. Degner’s knowledge paid-off when Suzuki became the first Japanese manufacturer to win motocross world championship.
