Here is what our experts feel about Z1000
Kawasaki Z1000 is one of the most respected motorcycles in the litre class streetfighter territory and the bike has a strong reputation across the globe for its powerful engine and brilliant handling. The motorcycle shares most of its components with the fully faired Ninja 1000 including the engine while its design language is one of its key highlights. The Z1000 has a sharp and aggressive appearance and has been designed in such a way that it is almost impossible to hate when it comes visuals. Overall, the bike looks proportionate and has all the key ingredients of a streetfighter that you are looking for. In terms of features, the bike gets a fully digital instrument cluster that packs in a lot of information for the rider. Moreover, you also get a slip and assist clutch, LED projector headlamps, disc brakes all around with an ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and more that make the Z1000 a well-rounded package. Kawasaki Z1000 is currently on sale in India at a price of starting price of Rs 15.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike challenges the likes of Suzuki GSX-S1000, BMW S1000R and other litre class streetfighters in the segment. If you wish more performance and features, you can go for the Kawasaki Z1000R that costs slightly more than the standard model.
The Kawasaki Z1000 gets Sugomi inspired styling which means it has aggression dripping from almost every portion. The front end of the motorcycle gets a sharp dual headlamp section that has four powerful LED units. The fuel tank of the Z1000 is also designed in such a way that it looks brawny and seem to offer broad shoulders to the motorcycle. The sharp tank extensions reach towards the engine with an aim to further boost the desirability in design. The bike has sporty looking split step-up seats that not only look appealing but come well padded too. You also get a removable seat cowl that enhances the visuals and you can remove it when you wish to take the pillion on board. The tail lamp gets the signature Z shaped glowing pattern that makes for another highlight. You also get stubby twin port exhaust set up that not just add to the aesthetics but sound equally incredible too.
Powering the Kawasaki Z1000 is a 1043cc, inline four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The fuel-injected mill is good for shedding out respective power and torque outputs of 140bhp and 111Nm. The gearbox of the Z1000 features slip and assist clutch that reduces the effects of engine braking during aggressive downshifts and hence promises better speeds during corner exits. With this hardware, the motorcycle can sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds and the top speed is pegged at 258 kmph. For obvious reasons, the fuel efficiency takes a back seat in motorcycles like the Z1000. The bike returns a combined figure of close to 13 kmpl and comes fitted with a 17-litre fuel tank.
Kawasaki Z1000 gets twin 310mm disc brakes up front along with a single 250mm disc brake at the rear. The bike also gets a dual channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) for better safety and more effective braking. The suspension system of the bike includes inverted forks up front along with a gas charged monoshock at the rear. The front set up gets separate function forks that contribute to the brilliant handling of the motorcycle. The Kawasaki Z1000 rides on 120/70-ZR17 front and 190/50-ZR17 rear tyres that come mounted over stylish alloy wheels. As you would normally expect from a typical streetfighter, the Z1000 handles like a dream and is easy to maneuver even in the tightest of city traffic. Bolted on a twin tube aluminium frame, the Z1000 remains calm and composed while attacking corners and has commendable straight line stability too.
Kawasaki Z1000 gets powerful LED projector headlamps up front that offer better illumination compared to the conventional units. Furthermore, the bike is equipped with dual disc brakes up front along with a single disc brake at the rear and this coupled to a dual-channel ABS offers additional safety and impressive stopping power. The headlamps of the motorcycle stay always ON that enhances its visibility and hence, minimises chances of a mishap.
