Here is what our experts feel about Ninja ZX 14R
Kawasaki ZX-14R is one of the biggest and baddest motorcycles one can buy in the market today. Known for its incredible appetite for speed it has conquered over its biggest rival to become the king of speed. Kawasaki India has launched the 2014 version of the motorcycle in the Indian market and it hafrom s already found cult status owing to its incredible legacy of dethroning the Hayabusa as the king of speed.
The new ZX-14R in its avatar for 2014 brings few but new upgrades that sets it apart from its predecessor. The changes have been made to the aluminum frame which now has a slightly narrower profile which improves the mass centralization and simplifies routine maintenance jobs. However the heart of the beast has been untouched and the motor remains at a healthy 1441 cc, liquid cooled, DOHC, four valve per cylinder, in-line four unit which makes 197 Bhp of power and 162.5 Nm of torque. The engine remains one of the most powerful of any production superbike today.
The Ninja also brings KRTC – Traction control system with three different modes controlled by a switch for different riding environments. It has a high performance exhaust system which ensures low noise an emissions all the while sounding exotic when revved high. The bodywork package is streamlined and one of the most aerodynamically efficient packages on the market today. But it is the engine with its entire tech which makes this motorcycle a winner on the road and on the drag strip.
It has a back torque limiting slipper clutch which makes downshifting from high rpms an easy task. The brakes are mighty powerful with plenty of bite. It has petal type discs with radial mounted calipers with ABS available as optional equipment. This motorcycle uses a separate brake pad per piston which increases its cooling capacity and ensures consistent brake feel for longer durations while riding hard on the twisty roads or on the track. The suspension is comfortable and paired with the seat it offers the best setup for long distance touring needs. On the front it has an inverted 43 mm cartridge fork with stepless damping adjustment. It has fully adjustable rear Uni-trak suspension for excellent ride control and consistent feedback. The quadruple projector beam headlights give the ZX-14R a unique look but they are also powerful enabling touring at night. The lightweight Denso radiator with dual fans and high-density cores provides maximum cooling efficiency.
The instrumentation is unique and looks one of nicest that we have seen. The black faced dual analog speedometer and tachometer are easily read and they look beautiful. The multi-function LCD digital display has odometer, two trip meters, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, clock and many other things. It also displays the switchable power mode and traction control system level information as well. It comes shod with 120/70 ZR17 tyres up front and 190/50 ZR17 at the rear. In India the new Kawasaki ZX-14R has an ex-showroom New Delhi price of 16.90 lakhs which makes it good value for money if you consider the options from BMW.
