The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R is an absolute stunner. The bike fades away its competition by added bulk on its fairing, which not only enhances the overall appeal but grants it stability at high-speed. The body graphics carry a modern feel which complements its trademark green and black dual-colour look. The muscular, 17-litre fuel tank in combination with wide windscreen, broad handlebars and halogen-powered split headlight cluster make up for its dominating front profile. The elevated pillion seat and floating tail section add to its sportiness. The tail, though it looks same, has gained some ticks on the width scale. Adding to its mean looks are the big, 17-inch black-coloured alloys. The new and lighter chassis allows the rider to quickly enter and exit corners, promising a greater level of feedback, control and cornering stability. The frame is made up of cast aluminium with a total of seven pieces. The lesser number of pieces ensure rigidity and strength in addition to being a visual masterclass. The sleek and stylish instrument cluster displays all the necessary information a rider requires while on the go, in the digital format. As soon as the ignition is turned on, the console lights up in a futuristic pattern that pleases the naked eye. A click on the console can make way for the ECU. What’s fascinating is that the rev indicator changes colour on the move. It turns red as the bike approaches the rev limiter at 14,500 rpm. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R features a wheelbase of 1,440 mm, a saddle height of 835 mm, adequate for riders with varied heights and a ground clearance of 145 mm.
This Kawasaki sports bike draws power from the 998cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four-cylinder DOHC engine that comes with a fuel injection system. The bike’s enigne pumps out a max power of 210PS at 13,000rpm and a peak torque of 113.5Nm at 11,500rpm. The Ninja ZX 10R comes fitted with a 6-speed transmission system and has the capability to touch the top speed of 300kmph on the speedometer. The Ninja ZX 10R is offered with a claimed fuel economy of 12kmpl. The engine is said to be more responsive and better performing at low & mid range. The engine not only produces brutal power but also complies with emission norms.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R is built on the lightweight twin spar, cast aluminium frame that contributes to its rigidity as well as stability. The frame design is such that it contributes to the cornering stability and provides a high level of feedback. The suspension duties on the Ninja ZX 10R are handled by the 43 mm inverted balance free Showa front fork with spring preload adjustability and gas-charged horizontal back-link shock absorbers with spring preload adjustability at the rear. For braking, the Ninja ZX 10R uses semi-floating 330 mm dual discs from Brembo with monobloc 4-piston mounted in the radial fashion at the front and a single semi-floating 220 mm petal disc with single bore aluminium piston at the back. It also features a dual-channel Anti-lock braking system (ABS) for enhanced braking. The alloys on the Ninja ZX 10R are shod with 120/70 ZR17M/C and 190/55 ZR17M/C section tyres at the front and rear respectively.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX 10R comes with an integrated suite of electronics that helps riders to stay one step ahead of the future happenings. The electronics package includes features like Kawasaki- Sports Traction Control (S-KTRC) system with multiple modes (5 to be specific), Kawasaki Engine Braking Control (KEBC), Kawasaki Launch control Mode (KLCM), Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System (KIBS) and Kawasaki Quick shifter (KQS). Additionally, there are Ohlins Electronic Steering Damper (ESD) and different power modes to assist the rider. The Brembo braking system provides a quick response that further adds to the safety column.
