Chieftain Expert Review

Here is what our experts feel about Chieftain

Indian Motorcycles is the oldest motorcycle manufacturer from America and one of the few ultra-premium brands in our country’s motorcycle market. The company recently launched its range of motorcycles in India. The Chieftain has been updated and looks absolutely great. It impresses us with its design, build quality and range of features. It also features an aerodynamically efficient design thanks to its massive fairing. It appeals to a range of riders but most importantly ups the ante taking the competition to the door step of its rival in the country.
The design is splendid and the road presence is incredible which has made it one of the favored bikes in the Indian Motorcycles line-up. It has the valanced fenders and a big windshield which does a good job deflecting the elements from the rider. The improvements to design and chassis have resulted in a motorcycle that is powerful but without increasing its weight. It offers a good balance between modern performance and retro styling. It has oodles of chrome and remains one of the biggest motorcycles in terms of size in the market today. The twin exhausts and long length of the motorcycle adds to the feeling of riding something truly special.
Chieftain comes with an 1811cc, Thunder Stroke engine that makes around 100 Bhp of power and an incredible 138.9 Nm of torque from its DOHC V-Twin engine. The peak torque is produced at around 3,000 rpm. The engine has a throaty sound which is very distinct and can be heard from miles away. It is one of the most versatile engines from the house of Indian Motorcycles. It has a gear driven wet clutch and the engine comes mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The closed loop fuel injection ensures easy startup and smooth fueling at all times.
The spacious seat provides the ultimate in comfort and is perfect for riders who wish to go touring on the open highways of the country. Despite being very heavy at 370 kgs the motorcycle is easily balanced by shorter riders. The keyless start makes it easy and safe to run the motorcycle without inserting the key. The extensive chrome on the bike adds to its visual appeal. The LED headlights ensure excellent visibility when riding at night. The hard saddlebags make it convenient to carry your luggage over long distances.
It also brings exciting features such as the fairing which comes with a high quality audio system that delivers sound from its speakers. The power adjustable windshield can be adjustable for height with a touch of a button. Integrated Bluetooth system makes it easy to access your music stored on your mobile phone. The powerful brakes with ABS have excellent stopping power in addition to enhancing rider safety. The war bonnet sits atop the front fender is another visual addition in the motorcycle. Customers have the option of adding several accessories available as optional equipment to further enhance their Chieftain and customize as per requirement. Indian Motorcycles retails the flagship motorcycle ‘Chieftain’ in India at an ex-showroom New Delhi price of Rs. 33.00 Lakhs.
