Here is what our experts feel about Glamour
With 4 motorcycles in the top ten positions on a month on month basis in the Indian market, Hero MotoCorp is the undisputed leader of the two-wheeler market in India. It is also the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer with likes of Splendor, Passion, and Glamour selling like hot cakes. Hero Glamour has been ruling the 125cc segment for quite a long time. Glamour’s trusted and proven track record along with the brand name Hero spells success for this bike. Hero Glamour has always been the benchmark for other 125cc bikes in terms of fuel efficiency and engine refinement. Good looks, decent comfort, refined engine, and low maintenance has helped maintain the Glamour at the top spot all along. Honda CB Shine is the main competitor of this commuter bike, but the likes of Bajaj Discover 125, and Yamaha Saluto are in this space too. The standard variant with drum brakes costing Rs.58,200, while the variant with the front disc brake costs Rs.60,200 (Both the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
Being a commuter, the Hero Glamour gets a simple yet stylish design. At the front, the bike gets a big headlamp with bright pilot lamps as well. Rear view mirrors are body colored that add a style quotient to the bike. Tank looks muscular and well-sculpted with attractive graphics and Glamour logo adorning it. Side panel flows well in the bodywork with a sleeker tail section. Grab bar on the end is body-colored and provides enough grip to the pillion rider. Black exhaust with the shiny chrome tip at the end gives it a classy look. Tail lamp at the rear is bright enough and is coupled with clear turn indicators. With a very plush and contoured seat, the ride on this bike is very comfortable even on the potholed city roads. Instrument console on the Glamour is a Semi-digital one which is not only attractive but clear too. The speedometer is analog while the odometer, trip meter, and the fuel gauge readings are provided by the digital screen. Hero Glamour is now available in 5 different colours of Candy Blazing Red, Black with Sports Red, Black with Tornado Grey Metallic, Digital Silver and Black with Techno Blue.
Hero Glamour is powered by a 124.7cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC engine. This engine produces a max power of 9.1PS at 7000rpm and a peak torque of 10.35Nm at 4000rpm. Being a Hero, the engine is very refined and the power is transmitted to the wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. The engine also has a special ASFS feature that provides better mileage. This translates into a fuel efficiency of an amazing 81kmpl. Even the gearshifts are smooth as the clutch is very light. Fuel tank capacity of 13.6 litres and the top speed of the commuter bike is 90kmph.
Like any commuter bike in India, the Hero Glamour too has raised handlebars providing an upright riding posture. This posture proves to be very comfortable and is suitable for daily city commutes. Brakes on this bike are decent enough with drum brakes of 130mm being offered as standard on both ends or you can opt for a front 240mm hydraulic disc brake which is better. With a softer suspension setup on the bike rides like a charm on the pothole-laden city roads. It consists of a twin telescopic hydraulic fork at the front and a rear swing arm with hydraulic shock absorbers. With the 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, the Glamour looks smart and attractive. The bike rides on the 2.75 x 18 - 42 P/ 4 PR section tyre at the front and a 3.00 x 18 - 52 P/ 6 PR section tyre at the rear.
Now as Hero Glamour is BSIV compliant, it comes with the mandatory AHO headlamps. These headlamps provide safety by increasing visibility during any time of the day and under any weather conditions. This motorcycle also features an optional front disc brake that really increases its safety aspect. Disc brake increases the stopping power of this motorcycle and thereby increasing the safety as well as stability. Hero Glamour also comes with this unique feature in its engine known as ASFS (Advanced Swirl Flow Induction System). ASFS provides a better "air+fuel" mixture by swirling them into the combustion chamber of the engine. This results in better burning of fuel which causes lesser pollution and a better fuel efficiency.
