Fat Boy Expert Review

Here is what our experts feel about Fat Boy

The Fat Boy is one of the most iconic motorcycles from the lineup of the Harley Davidson. The motorcycle is a desirable treat for those who want pure muscle from their motorcycle. The Fat Boy is a purpose-built cruiser motorcycle slotted in the middle of their lineup, according to the price and specifications.
Styling wise, the Fat Boy is a mean looking machine designed by keeping the muscle fans in mind. The motorcycle is rounded and substantial from every angle you look at it. When viewed from the front, the big non-cluttered headlamp instantly catches your attention, as it seems clearly out of the bike's silhoutte like most of the retro machines. The turn indicators too are mounted on the handlebar giving the headlamp profile a menacing front end. The motorcycle looks the best when viewed from the side with the enormously sized fuel tank with a  tapered chrome bar on top on which the fuel filler cap and instrument console is mounted. The engine and dual exhausts on the right side are finished in chrome, which glimmers heavily in sunlight. The tail light and rear turn indicators are mounted on the rear tyre fender which enhances the visual appeal and doesn't look 'out of the place' at all. The instrument console features an analog speedometer and a digital odometer, thus missing on many other important dials like fuel gauge and tachometer. The build and fit an finish is top notch and exudes quality.
For a Harley, the Fat Boy suits the bill when it comes to the mill by which it is powered by. The engine too, just like the rest of the bike, is an enormously sized 4-stroke, V-twin 1690cc motor, which is healthy enough to churn out 132 Nm of torque, making it an absolute pleasure to ride on the long highway stretches. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which has well matched ratios, especially the last ones utilizing the torque band the most. The engine has that typical Harley grunt, which may seem too loud on the higher revs.
The Harley Davidson Fat Boy is a pure exotic machine when it's told to hit the open stretches of roads. The bike comes in its own on such patches, thanks to the almost straight and wide handlebars, and along with the forward set foot pegs, it gives the rider a commanding riding position. The suspension setup of front telescopic forks and rear coil springs absorb the undulations of roads adequately. It is just the ponderous size of the motorcycle which restricts the rider to handle comfortably amidst the city chaos. That said, if highways are your demeanor, the Fat Boy is the apt tool for it. The brakes, discs at both ends, work fine in bringing this gargantuan on wheels to halt.
Overall, the Fat Boy is purely for those enthusiasts who don't mind showing their brawny side to the people they are surrounded with. The aura this motorcycle possesses is matched by very few machines, which make it a sheer piece of exclusivity. The motorcycle may not be a cool idea for your daily commutes, but if you love hitting highways and do it regularly, then the Fat Boy is a hard deal to resist with.
