Hypermotard 939 Expert Review

Here is what our experts feel about Hypermotard 939

The Ducati Hypermotard is amongst the very few supermotos available in the global markets, a class of motorcycles which are equally supreme for the in-city riding, highway touring and the best of all, playing with on off road terrains. It is the versatility of the Hypermotard which has kept itself a class apart from many motorcycles available. The Hypermotard is in the exclusive line-up of Ducati motorcycles here in India for quite a long time, right since its inception here.
The Hypermotard is a combination of both naked streetfighters and off-road motorcycles, as far as its appearance goes. The motorcycle features a tall-boy silhoutte reminiscent of the dirt bikes, with the raised height and a sleek design. The front features a tapered bikini fairing with a sleek headlamp encased within it, which is further accompanied by a high-raised front mudflap with small air scoops, which enhance its off-road feel. The side profile is dominated by an angular tank, with sharp tank extensions to increase the 'go-anywhere' presence of the bike, further accentuated by semi-exposed trellis frame on sides. The design then flows and remains pointed towards the rear, with a high-positioned tail lamp. The instrument console is an all digital horizontal panel showcasing a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer and trip meter, along with other warning lights.  The overall design language carried out is sharp and sleek, which makes this bike feel athletic.
The engine on the Hypermotard is a 4-stroke, air-cooled, V-twin 821cc engine, which is healthy enough to make out 112 PS of power and 89 Nm of torque. The light-weighted character of the motorcycle makes an incredible power-to-weight ratio, which makes the bike a hoot to ride. The engine is refined with a typical superbike like grunt which a V-twin engine is reminiscent of. The gear ratios on the bike, sourced from a 6-speed unit, are set on a shorter side, which makes the motorcycle a rev-hungry machine.
The handling and ride quality of the Hypermotard is substantially better than the other naked streetfighters. The minimalistic front view of the bike from the saddle, along with an almost flat handlebar, a high seat height and high ground clearance inspires the needed confidence in the rider to ride it hard. The riding position on the Monster is aggressive, with lean forward posture, rear set foot pegs and knees tucked inside the fuel tank. The suspension setup, with front upside down telescopic forks and rear monoshock are set on a stiffer side, but it aids heavily while handling the bike around corners. The brakes, with dual discs at front and a single disc at the rear, give the spot-on bite when applied.
At a starting price of Rs 10.44 lakhs, the Ducati Hypermotard is a clinch of a deal and an absolute catch for those who want to enter the exotic world of high-end motorcycles at a much affordable price. The motorcycle scores heavily on the aspect of its versatility and 'can be ridden anywhere' feel, which makes it one of the apt superbikes in the Indian context. The motorcycle is a treat for all the naked streetfighter and supermoto lovers, with the athletic styling, loads of equipment on offer, impeccable handling and riding posture and the sheer appeal which all the Ducati motorcycles share.
