Leading two-wheeler manufacturer TVS has announced zero down payment scheme on its Apache RR 310 motorcycle. The Chennai-headquartered company recently launched the bike at an ex-showroom price of INR2.27 lakh. The Apache RR 310, according to media reports, is being offered at a monthly installment of INR4,444.
Compared to the outgoing version, the new TVS Apache RR 310 gets a number of mechanical and cosmetic updates. The bike is now available in the new Phantom Black gloss colour scheme, besides the existing Racing Red option.
TVS, however, has not changed the bike’s powertrain. The Apache RR 310 is hauled by a reverse-inclined, single-cylinder 312.2cc motor, which outputs 34PS maximum power at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm peak torque at 7,700rpm. The liquid-cooled engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission system. The company has also introduced a new slipper clutch for the Apache RR 310 which can be retrofitted to the bike’s existing version. The slipper clutch prevents locking of the rear wheel when the rider aggressively downshifts from a higher gear at a high speed. The RR 310’s closest competitor, the KTM Duke 390, also has the slipper clutch system.
TVS has also tweaked the older Apache RR310 to improve its refinement. The bike’s engine control unit (ECU) has been updated. It now has larger bar end-weights and thicker windscreen beading. The new model is supported by an upside-down telescopic front fork and a monoshock absorber at the back. The Braking duties in the 2019 Apache RR 310 are handled by a 240mm and 300mm disc brakes in the back and front and respectively. TVS is offering dual channel antilock braking system (ABS) as a standard feature. Other features include LED taillights, twin LED headlights, a vertically stacked comprehensive instrument console, and clip-on handlebars.
The TVS Apache RR 310 faces direct competition from the KTM RC 390 bike in the Indian two-wheeler market. The latter has an ex-showroom price of INR2.44 lakh.
