TVS, the leading Indian indigenous two-wheeler manufacturer, is offering a complimentary upgrade on all Apache RR310 sports commuting bikes sold in India. While some of the upgrades are meant to improve the bike’s ride quality, others are targeted to extract more refinement from the engine.
While the TVS Apache RR310 has been impressive on most counts, its engine vibrations have been a major dampener, particularly the ones prior to the current version. The Hosur-based company has been working behind the scenes to refine the engine and reduce the vibrations.
TVS, as part of the upgrade, is updating four components in the RR310, especially the engine control unit (ECU) which is being re-flashed to allow the motor rev smoothly throughout the range. This not only improves the level of refinement but also increases the mileage.
Apart from the ECU, the bike’s engine gets piping around the edges as part of the complimentary upgrade. The piping reduces the buzzing sound from the place where the windscreen meets the fairing. The bar-end weights are now slightly heavier and larger than before and curb the vibrations further. TVS is also giving a new chain roller made from a softer material. It cuts down the noise from the chain.
All TVS Apache RR310 models are eligible for the upgrade being offered free of cost at TVS service centres. The entire process, according to the company, is likely to take around three hours. Customers can also get the upgrade done during the next servicing.
The TVS Apache RR310 is available at an ex-showroom price of INR2.23 lakh. The 312.2cc bike returns a mileage of 31kmpl, according to the company’s claim. It’s a reasonably priced dual-purpose sports and touring motorcycle and is fitted with dual-channel antilock braking system (ABS). The bike is a smooth negotiator of urban traffic and will now perform better with all the updates.
