Leading Indian indigenous automobile manufacturer TVS Motor Company has added a race tune (RT) slipper clutch to its flagship motorcycle Apache RR 310. The 2019 model of the popular sports bike also gets a new paint scheme called the Phantom Black, which replaces the earlier matte black colour. The new RT slipper clutch, according to the company, was added to enhance the riding experience and offer rapid gear shifting at high speeds with low operational fatigue. That aside, the slipper clutch helps the motorcycle to retain its stability while negotiating corners, a TVS statement said.
The RT slipper clutch has been engineered with an assist function via which the clutch plate locks tightly. It causes an increased clutch engagement force. Existing owners of the Apache RR 310 can upgrade their motorcycles with the slipper clutch which is available as a TVS Racing accessory.
TVS Motor director and chief executive officer KN Radhakrishnan dubbed the new Apache RR 310 as a ‘super-premium’ vehicle. The bike, he said, originates from the company’s racing pedigree which boasts of several industry-first features. He expressed confidence that both new and existing customers will appreciate the performance upgrade of the bike.
Other than the RT slipper clutch and the new paint scheme, the Apache RR 310 motorcycle shares all its mechanicals from the standard version. The bike is hauled by a liquid-cooled 312.2cc motor which produces 34PS maximum power and 27.3Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission system. The vehicle has a vertical, race inspired speedo-cum-tachometer and twin projector bi-LED headlamps.
The Apache RR 310 follows Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 in the TVS kitty in getting a slipper clutch.
The new Apache RTR 310 bike commands an ex-showroom price ofINR2,27,000. It rivals the KTM 390 Duke in its class.
