TVS Motors has announced that the Apache 160 4V has managed to achieve the 1 lakh units sales milestone in the Indian market. The motorcycle was launched in the country in March 2018 and has thus achieved the said milestone in just 6 months.
The Apache 160 4V shares its design with its larger sibling, the Apache RTR 200 4V. It has been developed with inputs from the company’s racing division, which has helped in giving the motorcycle some race-inclined dynamics.
It is worth noting that TVS has been actively involved in motorsports for over 36 years. Hence, the Apache 160 4V brings with it the knowledge that the company has garnered after developing the Group B RTR 165, which has won the Indian National Motorcycle Road Racing Championship (INMRC) for a total of six times. In order to remind customers of this legacy, the 160 4V comes with chequered flag decals on its fuel tank.
The Apache 160 4V is available in two variants – Carbureted and Fuel Injected. At its heart is a 159.7cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke, 4 valve engine. In its electronically fuel injected (EFI) guise, this engine develops 16.8PS at 8000rpm and 14.8Nm at 6500rpm, while the Carbureted version is rated at 16.5PS at 8000rpm and 14.8Nm at 6500rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed gearbox. The company claims that the Apache 160 4V can achieve a top speed of 114 kmph for the EFI version, while the variant with a Carburetor has a top speed of 113 kmph. Meanwhile, the 0-60 kmph sprint timings are 4.8 seconds (EFI) and 4.73 seconds (Carb).
TVS is offering the Apache 160 4V in three color options - Racing Red, Metallic Blue, and Knight Black.
